This course is designed to help you understand the purpose of religion in a person’s life and to understand some of the more common religious beliefs and how they answer the questions about the purpose and morality of life.

NOTE: As with all lessons, the purpose is to expose the student to different beliefs and not to impose a certain belief structure. Although we have endeavored to be accurate, we understand that there may be inaccuracies regarding some details of a particular religion. We cannot capture every religion or every belief in these lessons. Instead, please use your personal knowledge about a religion to enhance the learning and discussion for all of the participants in your class. And most importantly, please be open minded and fair when learning about beliefs that may seem different or odd compared to your own.

Students will:

  2. Compare other religious beliefs with their own, finding similarities and differences with all religions.
  3. Understand some basic tenants of various the 10 most common religions

    4. Buddhism
    5. Sikh
    6. Judaism
    7. Baha’i
    8. Confucianism
    9. Jainism
    10. Shinto
